Andrew and Karla's Place

Find out what has been happening with us

Easters been and gone and we want a do over

Well we’re all back at work now and the Easter break is over, it wasn’t really what we had in mind.

Sophie was sick from Thursday to pretty much Sunday, with being more herself on Sunday and Monday. She has decided now that she doesn’t like going to bed and wants to sit or stand in her bed crying out until someone comes and gets her. So we’ve had to just go back in at night and wrap her up and put her back down, doing this several times until she learns that she wont be brought out at night. Also with the change in Day Light Savings she has been waking up 5ish or earlier yah.

Karla also got quiet sick on Friday ~ Sunday, so she was out of action for most of the weekend, so no Birthday party, no Easter show on the Saturday or Sunday. I also got the bug on Saturday night / Sunday morning but luckily it didn’t last very long for me.

Miss Jessica was 100% ok during this time and hasn’t got sick, which is good, but meant she had all of her energy while everyone else was under the weather.

On Monday Jessie was invited over to the Stirling house hold for a play date with Sophie (Stirling) and the other girls from Daycare as Sophie (Sirling) is no longer there and missing her old friends. I stayed home with Sophie so we played in the lounge room and did stuff.

Then around 2pm I got a call from work as there were some problems, of course my laptop decided it no longer wanted to connect to work anymore and I would have to go in to the office to do anything. So Karla and Jessie had to come home and look after Sophie while I went in to work.

The end of a great weekend.

Hunt for serial ‘breast grabber’

GLENDA KWEK

March 23, 2010 – 12:25PM

Sydney women are being warned to beware of a suspected serial breast grabber.

Police believe the man has indecently assaulted three women in Sydney’s north-west in a fortnight.

The first woman was grabbed by the man on Birmingham Street, Merrylands, about 7.20pm on March 11, police said. She screamed and he ran away.

On March 21, another woman told police she was indecently assaulted at Railway Terrace, Guildford about 5.30pm. The man also ran away when she screamed.

A third woman was assaulted in Guildford Road, Guildford, about 1pm yesterday.

In all three incidents, the man asked the women for directions before grabbing their breasts, Inspector Adam Phillips of Merrylands police said.

The women described the assailant as a thin man of Indian appearance, aged between 25 to 28, of average height, with black, short, unkempt hair, a wispy black beard and a large nose.

Inspector Phillips said the man wore “a polo-style collared shirt with dark-coloured stone-washed pants”.

Police will try to analyse CCTV footage from Guildford railway station, which is near where two of the assaults occurred.

Police want other women who might have been assaulted or anyone with information to phone Merrylands police on 9897 4899 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Great Australian Electronic Dog Fence

The Great Digital Dog Fence Of Austrtalia

Friday what could go wrong, right?

This Friday was Jessie’s last visit to the Westmead Childrens Hospital for her check up on her finger. She was a good girl and was very excited to see the Doctor although she did keep refering to him as a Dentists.

Dr Lawson look at her finger along with her Shrek bandage on her little toe and also performed some dancing and explained that she liked to read books now as well. I also ask if he could look at her legs as Jessie has always walked around on tippie toes, he checked and said there was nothing wrong with her legs or feet and most likely just a habit she had.

Dr Lawson always enjoys a visit from Jessie as she gives him a good show and he was sad to say she was fine and that he would not need to see her anymore. Yeah great news so from Mothers Day 2009 to the 22nd of January 2010.

Done.

Jessie said she was a little hungry and thirsty so I said we could go down to the hospital cafe and get a drink and something to eat. So Jessie had the following…

  • Banana Up and Go
  • Ginger Bread Man
  • Strawberry Yoguart
  • Some of my baked beans

She was pretty much finished and was playing by going back and forth to one of the office windows, which had various drawings and toys in it and having a few baked beans in the process. I was cleaning up the table and starting to take the rubbish over to the bins when she was getting her last mouthful and she tripped over and banged her mouth on the chair next to us.

Big crys and a mouthful of blood…

I grabbed a pile of napkins out and started to wipe out her mouth and yes the blood just kept on coming. Thought it was best to go to emergency seeming they were just upstairs and get one of the nurses to have a quick look. I couldn’t really feel her teeth being loose but there was still some bleeding happening.

So close one injury file and lets open another one.

I’ll be brief now..

After going though the usual emergency room process (did I say usual, there should be nothing usual about it) we saw one of the dentists and the damage wasn’t to bad. She had cut the small piece of skin at the front top of your mouth / lip, (go on see if you can feel it with your tongue, I know your doing it) this was the cause of all of the blood. No bleeding of the gums so the teeth should be ok and none of them felt loose to the Dentist.

Only other thing that may happen is that she will get a bruise on the inside top lip of her mouth and a small chance that the teeth may darken. She may also not want to eat hard foods for a while.

So a good start to Friday.

New skimming fraud scam

What can you do?

If you read my post from the other day called “Way to start Friday” you would have read how our credit cards have been stopped after the Federal Police advised Westpac that our cards had been compromised in some way. Looks like this is the related news story from the Syndey Morning Herald advising that a lot of customers and other banks have been hit as well.

Police warn of new card fraud scam

Credit card and EFTPOS card holders have been targeted in a new ”skimming” fraud scam.

NSW Police have alerted banks and other financial institutions that they have formed Strike Force Wigg to investigate the use of skimming devices, which allow card data to be covertly captured then used to withdraw funds from a victim’s account.

Commonwealth Bank spokesman Steve Batten confirmed financial institutions had been advised of a security issue on Friday but he had not been told if his bank’s customers were affected.

”We will monitor potentially compromised accounts and contact customers to change their PIN,” he said. ”If this is not done in 24 hours, we reduce the amount that can be withdrawn from an account.”

Card users are advised to check account statements regularly and report any suspicious transactions.

Full story can be read here.

You do really hope Australia starts to get up todate with the latest security for cards, we have the chips so lets start using them and get ride of the magnetic strip altogether.
