Andrew and Karla's Place

Find out what has been happening with us

So what’s been happening

We’ll lots doubt I remember most of it now.

Sophie has been home sick for the past week with a bad cough and chest infection. She’s been on medicine at night and then ventolin 4 times a day. I’ve had something similar and stayed home to look after her for the week trying to get work done in between.

Karla has been working in her new role for her first week alone at Westpac as the EA to the Global Head of something. She’s been finding it challaging as the girl she is replacing for 9 months had to leave early before her full hand over. She is also having fun getting all her accesses in place to all of the systems she needs to use.

Jessie has been Jessie, she is really in to reading things now and spelling, every work or sign we go past she calles out various bits of it or asks how that spelt etc. She has been writing her own name now for a little while and seems to enjoy doing this.

Karla and I managed to get out the first time in ages (before Sophie was the last time) and saw Ross Noble at the Enmore theatre the other weekend. He was good and we both enjoyed the show. One of our friends Denis (and Christian) looked after the girls for us, apparently Jessie tried every trick she could to stay up and have a girl chat with Denis on the night.

Only bad thing was Denises car was smashed in to at around 12.30am by some idiot and has been written off, luckily Denis and Christian weren’t in the car, they would have been if it was a little later as we were literally walking out of the door to go to the car.

On Friday / Saturday I worked from 11pm to around 8.30am on our DRP for work, we then went out and had our family haircut outing and grabbed some fish and chips for diner that night. Around 6.30pm I logged back in to work to see how the DRP was going and things were just starting to happen after a huge delay from the night before so I helped out the guys until around 9pm. Needles to say I was pretty tied by them as I only got 2 hours sleep the night before and had been going all day.

On Sunday Karla took Jessica to swiming for the first time this season it’s about week 4 or 5 now. (We’ve all been sick each of the other weekends) She and Jessie had a good time toghter. I stayed home with Sophie as she still has some coughing and I was also not 100%. While at home I bathed Sophie and got her to have a little bit of a sleep as we had a birthday party to go to at 2pm for Jessie.

The birthday party was for one of Jessie’s friends from Day care, it was a ten pin bowling party and it was great fun all of the kids loved it they all behaved themselves and no injuries. Jessie now wants to learn her Mum how to bowl. (Yes she uses learn although we keep telling her you teach someone) Sophie loved all of the noise, lights and other kids running around the place.

After the party we had a look around and decided to go to a noodle place for diner, the food wasn’t quite what we thought it would be it was ok, but not the greatest. Karla felt a little sick afterwards but I was staving so I happily ate away. Sophie decided one of her crayons was better to eat, so we had to dig the end of it out of her mouth. I swear we only turned around for a second before she managed to eat the end of it off.

So another week startes, kids both at daycare again and Karla and I are back at work for another week.

Easter Show pictures

We all finally made it to the Royal Easter Show on Sunday. My vision was good enough and my eye not to painful, plus Karla and the girls were all well as well.
Travel was by car to Granville station then by express train to Olympic Park and the show. Luckily the trains weren’t overly busy and the girls were all in a good mood.
The crowds at the show were ok, except for the show bag and the main pavilion area’s. Jessie went on several rides and Sophie watched on happily. Jessie was still wondering if she was going to see the Easter Bunny as it is after all called the “Easter Show”. For the animals this year they had them all in a large barn roaming around freely, but you had to leave your strollers outside and as we had two of them packed with our gear, only Jessie and myself made it inside to see the animals and Karla and Sophie waited outside.

Easters been and gone and we want a do over

Well we’re all back at work now and the Easter break is over, it wasn’t really what we had in mind.

Sophie was sick from Thursday to pretty much Sunday, with being more herself on Sunday and Monday. She has decided now that she doesn’t like going to bed and wants to sit or stand in her bed crying out until someone comes and gets her. So we’ve had to just go back in at night and wrap her up and put her back down, doing this several times until she learns that she wont be brought out at night. Also with the change in Day Light Savings she has been waking up 5ish or earlier yah.

Karla also got quiet sick on Friday ~ Sunday, so she was out of action for most of the weekend, so no Birthday party, no Easter show on the Saturday or Sunday. I also got the bug on Saturday night / Sunday morning but luckily it didn’t last very long for me.

Miss Jessica was 100% ok during this time and hasn’t got sick, which is good, but meant she had all of her energy while everyone else was under the weather.

On Monday Jessie was invited over to the Stirling house hold for a play date with Sophie (Stirling) and the other girls from Daycare as Sophie (Sirling) is no longer there and missing her old friends. I stayed home with Sophie so we played in the lounge room and did stuff.

Then around 2pm I got a call from work as there were some problems, of course my laptop decided it no longer wanted to connect to work anymore and I would have to go in to the office to do anything. So Karla and Jessie had to come home and look after Sophie while I went in to work.

The end of a great weekend.

Are we all still alive

The short answer is yes.

We’ve been busy as most people are these days.

Our bathroom has been mostly finished, I still need to sand and paint the door trim and clean and paint the ceiling. There are also the towel rail and toilet roll holder to go up as well. We are using some suction cup ones to test where the best place for these to go is.

Sophie is doing well, she is saying more words each day and has her sometimes serious and not so serious conversations with those around her. Currently she likes to laugh and chuckle, it’s quite funny when she does it. You can laugh and she will laugh back at you and this can go on for sometime. She has still been going to her swimming lessons and likes the pool, but she’s not so happy in the new bath by herself, thanks to a little Miss Jessica who we think sprayed her in the face a couple of times. She is also pulling herself up on items, not walking yet but most likely not to far from it. Of course her 1st birthday is just around the corner and Karla is busy getting things ready for that.

Miss Jessica is doing anything and everything, I don’t think she is capable of sitting still or being quiet for more than 10 seconds. She fell over last Sunday on her way to swimming lessions and grazed her knees and one of her hands, so now we get constant “Look at my knee” or “Look at my hand”. She is very interested in reading and learning her letters and numbers, she can spell out her name now and I think she knows a few words here and there as well.

Karla is looking for work and has been applying for jobs online and calling agencies and companies when able to, when the girls are in day care or a sleep. She has also doing / almost finished the job placement course that her old work provided when she was made redundant and has found this to be useful in how she presents herself to the various places.

Me busy at work on stuff I can’t tell you about and busy at home with the 3 girls.

We were lucky enough to catch up with Sheelagh last Sunday after swimming as she was down visiting a friend not to far from where we live, it was good to catch up and have a chat. It also gave her a chance to see the two girls now and give Sophie someĀ  hugs.

What time did you get up Jessie? 3 o’clock Daddy!

We’ve been wondering for a while how early Jessie has been getting up in the mornings, when asked she’ll happily tell you 3 o’clock. So I decided to set up the webcam in the lounge room on the laptop to try and see what time she was getting up.

We know that she has been going out in to lounge room and turning on the tv and then turning on Foxtel and watching her shows. Often in the mornings we’ve noticed that she looks really tired and often can be in a mood becuase she is tired.

So with the webcam set up and motion detection turned on we can now know the truth…..
