Andrew and Karla's Place

We have a busy weekend for all of us.

It’s a popular time to be having a birthday. Jessie has been invited to 2 parties this weekend. Madeline has her party on Saturday at around lunchtime. Then we have swimming back on for Jessie on Sunday morning, then another birthday party in the mountains for Tom at lunch time.

Then Miss Jessica has her birthday on Monday and turns a big 3. Well do something for her on the day and then she has her party on the following Saturday.

There are other things which have to happen over the weekend as well when we get some time.

Luckily Monday is a Bank Holiday for me, so I can be home to enjoy Jessie’s birthday as well.

Our daughter Jessica has decided she likes to play under the computer table at home. Karla tells me she likes to put  the cables on her. These are power, network and printer cables, so while the network and printer cables wont hurt her unless she strangles herself in some way, the power one will.

Any I noticed yesterday that I couldn’t access the server from work, and I thought our modem might be down again, we seem to have developed a rather bad phone line now and this affects our internet connection. I’ve been trying to tune the modem to the line by sacrificing some speed for stability, still need to get the mix right.

Anyway it turns out my daughters little fingers had decided to press the power button either on the back of the servers power supply or she held in the front button for 5 seconds, the later is the only way she really could have done it I guess.

So looks like I’ll need to unplug that button at some stage to stop her from doing this in the future.

You may or may not have noticed that the site have been unavailable over the past couple of days. This has been as I have been changing over the modem we have been using as our old one had become unreliable.

The replacement unit is a CISCO one and no I am not going to tell you which one, but it has taken a little while to get the thing up and running properly so the server was available to the internet. I’m actually a little surprised as I had thought access still wasn’t working last night be I am posting from work.

Any things are back up and working now, so let’s hope it stays that way.
