This is from Paul’s daily email from WinInfo Update, about peoples short memories of how people saw Windows XP when it first came out. Today most people love XP and say it’s a great OS and Vista is terriable, you have to remember XP is quite old now and in it’s 3rd generation any software product in R3 should be stable and work well.
I have used Vista Ultimate before and since launch and while it’s not perfect and does require an up todate machine it’s better than XP in my opinion, and it’s more secure.
Hasta La Vista, Windows XP
by Paul ThurrottOK, I’m probably not the first person to think of that headline, but what the heck. Today, we’re mourning the passing–sort of–of an old friend, and I think it’s OK to be informal given the egregious amount of time he hung around in the first place. I won’t bore you with the specifics of the remainder of Windows XP’s life cycle: I spelled that out earlier in “Microsoft Will Not Extend XP Lifecycle Again: Here’s What’s Really Happening.” Instead, I’d like to take a few moments to look back on XP’s somewhat inglorious early history, which should make for an interesting comparison with Windows Vista’s first year. For some reason, with XP, a lot of people seem to have the one-sided memory that often accompanies a passing. It wasn’t all ice cream and pie, people.
